Open When Letters....

Open When.....

I've always had a special place in my heart for letters and cards. Ever since I was a little girl I remember making birthday cards and writing letter for my mom and friends. It just has so much more meaning then a text message or an email from now days. So here lately I've seen a few of this open when... letters on Pinterest and have been inspired to do so once again. A few weeks ago I accidentally got my phone mixed in with the laundry and in to the washer it went. I know what your thinking " was it that dirty?" I mean I heard that joke quite a few times that day. But any way I'm lucky to have a friend that happens to fix water damage screens on I-phones and broken screens. So soon enough I shipped it to her after she offered to fix it and she did and sent it back to me. She is so kind always so helpful and here for me when I need her even when she's not physically here. I wanted to do something to pay her back since of course she would't  let me pay for the water damage on my phone and the screen she had to replace. I wanted to do something that would remind her that regardless of the distance I am to there for her and that she can count on me. I thought doing the open when letters would be a good idea. We have been good friends for almost 10 yrs and she understands that even though we are not always on the phone talking to each other she is still a big part of my life. So for that I'm making the letters to provide her with motivation, encouragement, photos and a few jokes and memories for her to reminisce the good  times we had. I decide to do twelve envelopes for her to have one per month. I'm really looking forward to doing this for her I will provide a few examples that don't relate to us or that can be used by anyone so that you can use them if you'd like. Plus once you get started you will start to brain storm some ideas of your own, making the letters more meaningful and personal.

Envelopes

1). My number one will be placed on top of the stack and will read OPEN NOW!!!
On this one I'm going to explain to her that I want to be there for her even when i'm not. Make it sweet and you might want to include some tissue inside the envelope just in case they break down in tears!  :)

2).My next one will be OPEN When its Valentines Day! Since valentines day is right around the corner. So I am planing on putting a nice friendship card inside. You might want to include something else candy chocolate or what ever your friend or boyfriend might like. I wont since my friend is not to big on sweets! I might add something if I can think of something she would like.

3). Third one for me will be open when its your birthday! Her birthday is in march so I'm planing on making her a birthday card and including a gift card to one of her fav spots to shop at!

4). For my fourth one it will read OPEN when you MISS me!
For this one Im planing on taking photos of myself holding a board or paper that say the reasons why I love her as a friend. Be creative blow her a kiss. Anything that will make your personality pop will do. I'm also including one that has my number in it that says i'm only a phone call away.

5). Fifth one will read OPEN when you CAN'T sleep!!!
Because who doesn't have those nights when sleeping just sounds impossible right? Well for this one I was not too sure but then I thought well what do I do when I cant sleep then I thought well I drink some tea. While this might not work the idea sounds quite brilliant to me. So I am including some "sleepy tea" to help her catch some Zzz! Maybe even come up with a cheesy bed night story!

6).Open when you need a good laugh!!!
So for this one I thought I might include some funny jokes and maybe even a funny chick flick! Since she was one of my bridesmaid's I'm seriously thinking about the Bride's maids movie! Plus we both love it!

7).open when..... you want to reminisce
For this one I'm including as many photos as I can find of us arranging them from the oldest to the most recent ones. I might even try to caption some with the years and what ever I can remember from looking at them.

8).Open when....You feel like giving up!
For this one Im including motivational quotes. I haven't looked yet but I am sure I will find plenty on Pinterest!

9).Open when your feeling tiered!
My friend works at the mall and she has to work long hours. But they happen to have a Starbucks so I'm going to throw in a note that says perk up grab some coffee! And of course include a gift card.


For the rest just try to be creative and include something that reminds you of them. You may also include what ever other holidays are such as thanksgiving, christmas and new year's which you can include a shot glass and confetti for a fun celebration! If you can come up with any other ideas feel free to comment I'd love to know what other ideas are out there! I am not completely done with this yet but I think I might add some photos when I have it all put together!
